Your training contract at Dechert includes a rolling programme of training on everything from specialist legal knowledge, to business skills, to how to get the best from our state-of-the-art IT systems.

But we know that the most important training is that which goes on every day, with your supervisor guiding your work, and giving you help and feedback. So in each seat you will sit with an experienced lawyer chosen because of their interest and skill in training. You will receive mid and end-of-seat appraisals, including regular reviews with the senior lawyer responsible for your development.  Throughout your training contract your development is under the watchful eye of our experienced Director of Training, who is always available for a confidential chat.

Our commitment to your development is reflected in our highly personalised six-seat rotation system.  We believe that by allowing you to experience up to six different practice areas during your two year training, we can help you to learn more and give you a sound base for your future career. We work hard to ensure that each seat is right for you as your experience and interests develop.

Before applying for a training contract, why not find out more about the firm by taking part in one of our work placement programmes? We offer around 15 people the opportunity to get to know our people and our work at Easter time or during the summer. Through a combination of real work, training sessions and social events the programmes give you a feel for what it would be like to train with the firm, and help you to decide whether you would enjoy doing so.
