Dechert’s London office has around 150 lawyers, practising across all of the firm’s core practice areas. Our largest teams are Corporate and Securities, Finance and Real Estate, Financial Services and Litigation.

The office was established in the 1930s as Titmuss Sainer & Webb, and merged with Dechert after first entering into an alliance in 1994.

In recent years our strengths in Real Estate, Corporate and Litigation have been supplemented by a fast growing and highly rated Financial Services practice, which has become the London market leader for hedge fund clients.  Our Financial Services team works closely with other Dechert offices around the world, including our Washington, New York and Luxembourg offices.

Our Finance and Real Estate practice has also been developing rapidly, increasingly focusing on property finance, banking, securitisation and Islamic finance work in addition to its well established real estate and development work.  Our Corporate practice serves a wide range of clients from the UK, the US and around the world, including private equity and life sciences businesses.  We have smaller but highly regarded teams practising Employment Law, Intellectual Property, and Tax.  A significant and growing number of our lawyers are qualified in the USA or in continental European jurisdictions.

We have a well deserved reputation as a friendly and un-stuffy place, where everyone knows each other.  It was no surprise when a major employee satisfaction survey recently rated us as one of the top three law firms in London at which to work.

In 2005 we moved to a new office building in the heart of the City, between London’s financial centre and the High Court and legal London.
